about

The Sisters Riverine are Emily Adam (Darbazi, The Blackest Crow) and Andrea Vargas (The Contemporary Lovers, The No Shit Shirley's).

They met while studying permaculture on Cortes Island in 2011 through the eight month Linnaea Ecological Garden Programme.

Music wove itself through the surrounding woods and wilds of time lived on the island and resounding landscapes have since been influential in anchoring a sense of place for the songs to come.

Called to study appalachian, sacred harp and folk traditions, what comes of them is a mix of old time song and timeless lyric peering into human story through the bare and raw inquiries of human voice. Their performance will rouse you and stir your heart.
